A wheel is one of the biggest inventions of a mankind. The first wheel had been made approximately in 3500 B. C. in Mesopotamia. Since then, a wheel has gone through many developmental phases till it came to the version we know nowadays.
You can find this unique, one of a kind in Central and Eastern Europe collection, representing the history of wheels from ancient times up to today, in The Museum of Wheels ETOP in Trenčín, right under the Trenčín Castle, next to the historical hotel Tatra.
There are Sumerian stone wheels, wooden wheels from China or Egypt, wheels from the 19.th and 20.th century, trains and airplanes wheels, as well as cars - oldtimers, motocycles, wagons, discs and many other devices and machines related to wheels in this museum.
A unique part of the exhibition is also a collection of earthernware, terracotta and painted porcelain pipes, accidentally discovered during the archaeological research while setting up a base for building the museum.
